Gateway Operations Limited is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified, is recognized by the
New Brunswick Construction Safety Association (NBCSA) and is certified through the
Accredited Snow Contractors Association (ASCA)
Formed in 2010, Gateway Operations Limited assumed responsibility for the Operation,
Maintenance and Rehabilitation (OMR) of the Route 1 Facility on June 01st, 2011,
and will continue to hold responsibility until June 30th, 2040. The Route 1 Facility
is comprised of approximately 237 kilometers of four-lane controlled access divided
highway complete with interchanges and road side assets located between the Canada
Border Services Agency in St. Stephen and the Fredericton-Moncton Highway limits
in River Glade. The key assets belonging to the Route 1 Facility include the following:
- Pavements
- Bridges, underpasses and overpasses
- Drainage and miscellaneous structures
- Ground mounted and overhead signs
- Guiderail systems
- Illumination systems
- Fences
The OMR limits of responsibility include all multi-lanes and ramps extending from
km marker 0 to km marker 239 on Route 1 with the exception of the assets located
in the Saint John Harbour Bridge limits as denoted below, which are the responsibility
of the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (NBDTI):
- All assets located in the eastbound and westbound lanes between km marker 120.6 and
km marker 123.0
- All assets located at the following ramps
- Eastbound on ramp of Exit 120 (Market Place)
- All ramps of Exit 121 (Chesley Drive)
- All ramps of Exit 122 (Market Square)
